When Kingston Academy approached Idea Showcases, they had an empty and uninspiring area beneath a staircase that simply wasn’t being used. Rather than allowing this space to remain forgotten, we recognised an exciting opportunity to create a bespoke display cabinet that would celebrate the school’s achievements, creativity and community spirit.
As a result, our design team developed a completely bespoke display solution that perfectly followed the angle of the staircase. Consequently, every inch of available space was utilised, creating a striking feature that immediately captures attention while complementing the school’s modern interior.
Rather than creating a standard display cabinet, we carefully designed three individual display zones, each with its own purpose.
Firstly, the opening section was dedicated to showcasing students’ artwork. This gallery-style display gives young artists the opportunity to exhibit their work proudly while encouraging creativity throughout the school.
Furthermore, the adjustable shelving allows exhibitions to change throughout the year, ensuring the display always remains fresh and engaging.
Next, the central section was designed to celebrate Kingston Academy’s sporting, academic and extracurricular achievements.
Not only does this area provide a secure home for trophies and awards, but it also inspires future students by highlighting the school’s ongoing success. In addition, the adjustable shelving makes it easy to accommodate trophies of different heights as the collection continues to grow.
Finally, the third section was designed to create a genuine focal point.
Unlike a traditional display cabinet, this section incorporates a bespoke rotating display base, allowing a special piece of student artwork to be viewed from every angle. As visitors enter the building, this unique feature immediately draws attention while giving exceptional student work the recognition it deserves.
While appearance was important, functionality was equally essential.
Therefore, every element of the cabinet was manufactured using high-quality materials and premium components to provide both security and flexibility.
